Testing a sample for multiple taxonomic groups with metabarcoding makes sense if you want to fully evaluate a location without having to purchase additional testing or sampling kits. This metabarcoding panel offers great savings as the second-fifth taxonomic you add are only £125 ex. VAT each. You will need to order your sampling kits separately (we are also able accept sampling kits purchased from other companies). Turnaround time: 3-4 weeks

As soon as your order is received our system emails you a sample submission form for this test. Please check your junk mail if you haven’t received it within a few minutes of your order.

The email comes with full instructions for submitting your sample to us to ensure the best quality testing.

This testing is carried out by a next-generation sequencing (NGS) method called metabarcoding. Universal PCR primers are used to amplify a fragment of a gene whose DNA sequence is known to vary between species of that taxonomic group.

The PCR product is then sequenced, which produces a dataset of DNA sequences originating from DNA which was present in the original sample you submitted. These DNA sequences are then compared to reference databases of known DNA sequences for the same gene fragment which have been constructed from morphologically identified species.

Our reference databases are updated and validated bioinformatically on a regular basis to ensure we use the most up-to-date reference database for your samples.

You will receive your results and data in your online account

If you do not have a business account with us then all testing must be prepaid via a credit or debit card. No credit terms will be available to customers without a business account.

Applying for a business account

To check out you will have to register for an online account, and during this registration you can choose to apply for a business account at the same time. Once the business account has been approved you will be able to pay via purchase order / invoicing in addition to credit/debit card. Please note that your first order must be paid for before your results are released.

Companies, universities, charities and citizen science groups can apply for a business account. Once your account is approved you will receive account-specific pricing, which is often discounted. If you would like to apply for an account in anticipation of a future order, please register here.
