Description
In the UK bats are protected by legislation and it is illegal to disturb them in their roost, damage or obstruct access to a roost. It is also illegal to capture, injure or kill a bat or possess, advertise, sell or exchange a bat, or part of a bat, dead or alive. As bats can roost in a variety of places, DNA testing of bat droppings can be especially useful as it avoids the need to capture or trap and can accurately identify the species.

The Taxa Genomics bat identification test comprises targeted analysis for 18 species of British bat in a single test (listed below). This is a great advantage to our customers as we can identify the bats present in mixed samples without additional testing and expense. Should your sample not originate from a bat we can confirm the exact species via our general species identification service.
