TaxaReveal™ Vertebrates is a broad-spectrum assay targeting all major vertebrate classes simultaneously — fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals — from a single amplification. It is suited to biodiversity baseline surveys where broad assemblage characterisation is required without a priori species selection.
Target locus: Universal vertebrate 12S ribosomal RNA gene primers spanning all vertebrate classes.
Taxonomic scope: All vertebrate classes. In practice, fish tend to dominate read output in mixed aquatic samples due to competitive amplification dynamics. The vertebrate panel is most appropriate where broad-spectrum presence/absence data are the primary objective. Where fine-resolution community data are needed for a specific class, the dedicated fish or mammal assays are preferable.
